Overview

The problem we're solving with this Event App is the complexity and fragmentation of the event experience. Attendees often struggle to access event-related information, such as schedules, presentation materials, and travel details, through various sources and platforms. This can lead to disorganized planning and missed opportunities. By offering a unified and user-friendly solution, we aim to streamline the event journey, making it easier for attendees to access essential resources and enhance their overall event experience.

Uncovering Issues

User research findings & insights

Given the quick turnaround, we conducted a small survey study with 15 people. Most of these individuals are new/junior designers. Here are the results:

87%

of survey takers believe that they'd trust designers based on their years of experience

83%

When practicing interviews, junior designers go to their friends to practice with. They feel that friends are more easy going and approaching them is easier. However, friends don't always provide the best advice.

of the survey takers ask for help from friends but the advice isn't always great

Followed closely by "senior" rank and if the designer works for a FAANG company. Some survey takers trust help from others only if they work for the specific company they are applying for.

User Flow

User Flow

Based on competitive research and deep discussions with engineers, I finalized the following flow.

Concepts and Iterations

Wireframes

Based on the user flows, I sketched wireframes and conducted multiple rounds of feedback with designers, developers, and product owners. I wanted to level-set development efforts with engineers early in the process and have an understanding of the technical feasibility of the designs.

What I Learned

Reflecting on the project outcomes

This project was intense. I worked on designs for Mobile App and also made POS App. While there were lots parts of applications, I learned how to balance and design for multiple devices.

01

Be precise in your designs

02

When practicing interviews, junior designers go to their friends to practice with. They feel that friends are more easy going and approaching them is easier. However, friends don't always provide the best advice.

Projects get messy

Be wary of padding and margins. Developers won't know what values to set if you don't. Take the guesswork out of it and make your designs as exact as possible. Don't make your devs designers unless they want it.
